A bag of hot coffee, please ...

This morning, I went through the drive through at the Burger King in Brentwood, CA (the one in the SF Bay Area, not the one that O.J. is from), and I ordered a large coffee. So, I go to the window and pay for the coffee. The girl then hands me the coffee in, get this, a paper bag. Is that the stupidest thing you ever heard? Then the conversation goes like this:

Me: "You can keep the bag."
Her: "I have to give it to you in the bag."
Me: "Why?"
Her: "That's the rules".
Me: "Why?"
Her: "In case it spills".

I don't know if this is Burger King's corporate policy, or if it is just the policy of this one Burger King, but it just seems wrong. Who serves drinks in bags? It's a waste of paper. In this age of conservation, someone should sue Burger King for wasting paper.

Jason,

This does sound ridiculous.

Next time pull up to the drive-thru, park your car there, and turn off your engine. Refuse to move the car for the next 20 minutes if they give you the cup of coffee in a bag.

Tell them, "I'm not moving my car, I need to make up for your lack of environmental-friendliness by reducing my carbon emissions." But don't waste your time either. While you're sitting there make sure you give them a lecture about the number of trees they are unnecessarily killing by doing this.

I'm sure the next time you'll get just a cup of coffee. This assume that you could make it through the whole ordeal without being arrested.

By the way, thanks for thinking enough of my blog to be a guest blogger.
